NOHVA Annual Meeting
The 2010 NOHVA Annual meeting will be held Sunday October 24th in Grand Island at the Conestoga Mall meeting room, with the entrance located on the south side of the mall. The meeting will begin at 1 PM, doors will be open at 12 noon. The Conestoga Mall is located at the intersection of US Highway 281 and 13th street. The entrance to the meeting room is located between Dillards and Younkers. We will have some refreshments on hand. The meeting is open only to NOHVA members (with non-expired memberships) and invited guests. Memberships will be checked at the door.
In prior years we have held the annual meetings after the first of the year in January or February. However, considering the nature of what needs to be decided, this will most likely be the first of a series of reorganization meetings or our final meeting as a state organization. Not only will the future direction or existence of the organization be discussed, volunteers will have to decide the new management structure of the organization.
The chapter officers do not need to be elected prior to the meeting so that the chapters can have a better idea of the tasks they have to deal with.
Those that are willing to take on some of the duties that the former business manager handled should come prepared to serve as self starters. What this means is that most any job someone volunteers for, they should be willing to take it on with little or no direction. Hopefully this will bring in the new blood, ideas and energy that the existence of the organization needs to meet the difficult tasks set before us.
Here are some options for the future:
· Find someone to take the Business Manager position and keep the state organization structure intact as it is now.
· Split the various duties listed below up among members.
· An option that combines the above two options.
· Dissolve the state organization and leave the chapters intact as separate clubs.
We need to consider people to fill:
· NOHVA Business Manager and communication manager
· Someone to receive the mail, answer email, send alerts and notices to members and answer the phone.
· Serve as NOHVA liaison with Loup Power and the Nance County Sheriff
· Serve as NOHVA liaison with the Nebraska National Forest
· Serve as an advisor to those interested in developing new trails and parks
· Newsletter editor, manage limited advertising, including process mailing labels and tracking business memberships
· Manage renewal notices to members
· Sell and manage supply of t-shirts and other NOHVA gear, process online orders, etc.
· Compete paperwork for grants from manufactures and others
· Jamboree Manager
· Legislative representative to our state and other government agencies to protect and further our rights and interests.
· Representative of ATV/dirtbike/UTV trails users to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission
· Representative with national groups such as the National Off Highway Vehicle Conservation Council (NOHVCC), American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) and BlueRibbion Coalition
· Web site designer and manager
· Treasurer that includes maintaining a summary of funds, pay bills, monitor bank deposits and statements, creating a budget, filing sales tax forms, IRS forms and processing state corporate reports.
· Historian/Files
Other duties that will need to be discussed is the election of four directors at large and new officers of the Board of Directors for 2011.
The 2010 NOHVA financial report will be discussed at the Annual Meeting. Due to the losses at the Jamborees and declining membership, overall income is down about 50%.
A list of duties for elected officers and directors is available upon request from the Business Office or can be reviewed on our web site. Descriptions of duties will be available at the meetings or can be obtained prior to the meeting. To inspect a list of duties before the meetings, contact Dan Nitzel at danno@nohva.com to have a copy emailed or sent via the U.S. Postal Service to you.
