Mud Run in Weeping Water, NE a success!

The Limestone/Independence day event was a big success. We had approximately 45 quads ride in the parade, a good showing for the first time. The parade ended right at the spot for the Mud runs. There was an estimated crowd of 200-250 spectators gathered to watch the battle in the mud. Mark Rathe, our local contact and also a participant, won the event for four wheel drive utility with a time of 25.77 seconds.

The pit was 100ft long, and VERY deep. We anticipated more water drainage than we received, so the pit ended up deep. Everyone had fun making attempts at the pit, and we learned a lot on the art of Mud Pit making. Using what we learned this year, we plan on making some adjustments to the pits for next year. The pits will be even more challenging for the 4x4 class, and the 2 wheel drive pit will be longer and not as rough.

I want to thank everyone who came out and made this event a success. The local volunteer fire department made approximately $300 dollars by washing machines at the end of the pits. I also want to thank the following people for volunteering their time and effort putting this event on: Darrel Strahan, Keven Young and his friend Susan, Joe Smisek, David Galvan, Benjamin Didamo, Charles Jones, and the Rion family (Bob, Sharon, Craig, and Kristin). A special thanks goes to Mark Rathe for all his hard work on setting this event up. I would like to thank the following companies from Weeping Water for their generous donations, if you happen to be in Weeping Water, stop in, shop, and say thanks to these people:

NOHVA Members Show Appreciation

On July 15th, NOHVA members Gary Gibbs, Randy Henderson, Don Mustion and Dan Nitzel took a day off from work to show the crew who work at the Headworks area our appreciation.

On that day, fresh gilled hamburgers, hot dogs, home made potato salad and home made pork and beans was served up. Also in attendance were several Loup Power staff members from Columbus and Sheriff Paul Kruse and staff members from the Nance County Sheriffs Department.

We simply wanted to say ‘THANKS" for all that they have done over the years.

NOHVA Donates To Genoa Rescue Squad

In appreciation for all of their attendance at the Spring Jamboree, and for hard work and planning over the years, NOHVA has donated $300 to the Genoa Rescue Squad. The rescue squad serves as one of the necessary spikes in the wheel to keep the area rolling and we certainly appreciate their volunteer efforts!

Thanks for Help at Centennial

I just want to thank the many volunteers who helped make the Bessey Ranger District, Bessey Nursery & Samuel R. McKelvie Centennial Celebration Day a success June 15th. All the folks that showed up (around 250) seemed to enjoy themselves. Volunteers helped keep the campground area quiet during the speakers' program and during the recognized quiet time in the evening. There was also trail work done on the Dismal River Trail that day. All of your efforts were very much appreciated.
