Riders Ticketed at Headworks
According the Chief Deputy Dave Moore of the Nance County Sheriff’s Department, eight ATV riders were ticketed for trespassing at the Headworks OHV Park near Genoa on March 30th. The young riders were from Seward and Sutton. This was the first incident involving trespassers at Headworks during the spring closure.
The riders apparently got around a series of four gates. It is not known if the riders tore down gates and fences to gain access to the main riding area, but the last time they were checked on the evening of March 28th, everything was intact. NOHVA members who were fishing at the canal called the sheriffs department to report the ATV riders riding on the canal roads and back in the trails. Fines for trespassing can be as much as $500 per incident.
The area is expected to re-open sometime soon. NOHVA members will receive notification of the exact re-opening date as soon as it is determined. A work day will also be scheduled prior to re-opening. Watch the mail for details!
