Greetings ATV and Dirtbike Enthusiasts!

During the Annual NOHVA Meeting on January 6th, we decided to form a separate Halsey Trails chapter of NOHVA.  The new Halsey Trails chapter of NOHVA will specifically help with ATV and dirtbike trail work at the Nebraska National Forest near Halsey.  The goals of the new Halsey Trails chapter are to assist the U.S. Forest Service with trail maintenance, help fund trail improvements, and educate riders who enjoy the 100 mile plus trail system.  Plans call for the new chapter to have it's own officers and local control, with oversight by the NOHVA Board of Directors.  Funding for the chapter will come from riders who mark their membership forms as wanting to be affiliated with the Halsey Trails chapter, and augmented funding from the NOHVA general fund.

The first meeting of the chapter will be held in North Platte on January 27th at Nebraska Machinery on South Highway 83 at 7 PM.  This will be an informal meeting intended to educate people who ride ATVs and dirtbike at Halsey about future meetings and plans.  Chuck and Vicki McCarty of North Platte is sponsoring the meeting and it will be a free soup supper.  For more information call Chuck or Vicki at (308) 531-9553.

The next meeting of the chapter will occur on February 18th at 4 PM in Grand Island at the Interstate 80 Holiday Inn.  It will follow a free two day workshop that will discuss the new Motorized Travel Plan for all of the U.S. Forest Service units.  Chapter officers will be elected at this meeting.
