NOHVA Board of Directors and General Meeting

Membership report:  About 2/3’s of our memberships coming in now are from the web site.  Total memberships now at 1520, over 300 members.  Sent out renewal notices to 393 for August 31, 2007.

Financial report give, available upon request to members.

Talked about hiring an insurance consultant to review our insurance needs.  This year we spent $9700 on insurance.

Voted to hold the Fall Jamboree on October 20th and 21st, 2007.  Motion made by Dennis Walz, seconded by Ralph Hert, motion passed.  Decided to hold the same events as last spring, a barrel race, tree race, ATV pull, poker run and ATV drags.  Discussed the dis-banders at the Jamboree Decided to order different arm bands to stick out. 

Talked about the new decision by NPPD that allows us not the be required to carry liability insurance at the riding area.  The Flat Rock Riders indicated that they want to continue to be a NOHVA chapter.  They can continue as a social chapter if they maintain at least 10 members not including officers.  Will discuss at Annual Meeting further.

Approved funds for the Little Blue OHV Club.  Will set aside $1000 for the new OHV Park this year and another $1000 next year.  Motion made by Marion McGee, seconded by Chuck McCarty, motion carried.

Discussed changes in Nebraska ATV laws and how they could effect NOHVA.  Counties and villages can now allow ATVs on streets and road in their jurisdiction.  They can also ban them.

Harlan County riders voted to become a NOHVA chapter.  About 20+ people attended a meeting there on Aug. 10th.  Officers were elected, they voted to become a NOHVA chapter.  A letter asking to become a chapter has been drafted.  The project is waiting for final approval by the State to go ahead.  Dennis Foster was elected President.  A motion was made by Chuck McCarty to allow them to become a NOHVA chapter, seconded by Marion McGee, motion passes.  Welcome Harlan County Riders Club, our 6th active chapter. 

Approved the Business Manger contract for Dan Nitzel through December 31, 2007 at a rate of $550 a month.  Motion by Ron Kubalek, seconded by Tim Zabka, passed.

Talked about applying for a grant from Polaris this fall.

Received a chapter report from Billy Vodicka of the Little Blue OHV Club.

Received a report from Chuck McCarty of the Halsey Trails Club chapter.  Chuck talked about the success of the chapter helping with the Nebraskaland Days in North Platte.  Discussed a proposal to close the Nebraska National Forest near Halsey to “recreational” trail riding during rifle deer hunting season.  Deer hunters will be allowed to carry out deer, but not cruise around.  The closure will be in effect from Nov. 10th thru Nov. 18th

Discussed location of Annual Meeting in January 2008.  The people from Grand Island liked Grand Island for a location.  The people from North Platte liked North Platte.  No decision made. 

Meeting adjourned at 8:55 PM.  Attendance was 16 members.
