Headworks OHV Park near Genoa.
By Dan Nitzel, NOHVA Business Manager
With a positive vote of the Nebraska Off Highway Vehicle Association (NOHVA) Board of Directors, the Nance County Sheriff's Department took delivery of a new Polaris Razor on June 13th, 2009 at the NOHVA Summer Jamboree held at Headworks OHV Park near Genoa.
The Razor project is a joint effort with NOHVA, Motoplex of Norfolk and Polaris. The intent is to help increase the effectiveness of the Nance County Sheriffs Department. The new Razor will also help with Headworks OHV Park riding area rule enforcement. The side-by-side seating arrangement of the Razor will allow the Sheriff's Department to carry two people while on patrol or during a rescue, and enable the department to carry more equipment. Also, the Razor will be able to tow one of our two the rescue trailers to and from the riding area, if it is needed.
The Polaris Razor was chosen as it is one of the few UTVs that can access the riding area and stay under the 55 inch width limit. Also Polaris has a history of supporting NOHVA by providing trail grants for ATV and dirtbike trails in Nebraska. In 2006 Polaris donated $20,000 for two NOHVA projects.
The cost of the Razor was split 50/50 between Motoplex of Norfolk and NOHVA. Polaris kicked in $500 and 0% financing for NOHVA.
We want to thank Don Novotny, the owner of Motoplex of Norfolk for working very hard to make this project become a success, and we want to thank Polaris for all their help as well!
The loaner ATV currently being used by the Nance County Sheriff from Curry Bros. Motorsports will be returned. We certainly appreciate the help from Curry Bros. Motorsports in providing an ATV to us over the years and for their great support over the years!
